Dear Missions Partner,

First, we want to thank you so much for your support. We cannot express in words how much your participation in our lives means to us as we seek to serve God through being sent on missions.

It is with heavy hearts that we must report to you, out of our responsibility to you as our partner, a change in our situation. Below is a letter explaining the update; please read it and join us in prayer. Please pause and proceed to read that letter now before continuing.

We understand this is sudden, and we know we would wish it were any other way. We know this is not a surprise to God, and that His plan is greater than ours.

We want to commit this to you now; we are not giving up on being sent as missionaries. We will be taking stock, praying diligently, and seeking opportunities to glorify God by using the ways He has made us to serve Him as missionaries. We can commit to you that we are already praying over next steps and potential opportunities, which we hope to share with you in the near future as appropriate.

As for the funding we have raised, know that we have protected it and are stewarding it well. Nothing undue has happened to it. It is being held in trust at a partnering church 501 (c) (3); the charitable contribution is preserved. First, we ask that you stop giving to White Horse Missions on our behalf at this time. Second, if you have supported us financially, we ask that you prayerfully consider continuing to partner with us in the near future. All the missionary opportunities we are presently praying through all still involve fundraising in some capacity. But if you would like the money you have given to be used differently, please reach out to us as soon as you are able. We will respect your choice regardless.

Thank you for your partnership with us. We do not see this as the end of the road, just a speed bump. We are still going on missions and still trusting God. Please continue to partner with us in prayer as we seek what’s next.

With love,

Gideon, Emma, and Laurence Owens

The past few weeks have been an absolute whirlwind. Our plans and expectations were abruptly canceled. We are saddened, confused, and a little discombobulated but we know that nothing that has occurred is a surprise to God. He has been so faithful. We are thankful to serve a God who is the same yesterday today tomorrow and forever. We are thankful for every single person who has covered us in prayer. It is funny and no random event, that just days before we heard the news that we would no longer be going as missionaries through White Horse that we heard teaching on Philippians. A specific verse that has encouraged us through this time is Philippians 1:6 " I am sure of this, that he who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." The whole book of Philippians is encouraging, I just don't have room to type it out. :) It just goes to show that discomfort and unexpected turns are an opportunity to glorify Christ. Are we sad? Yes. However, Gideon and I know that this is just a bump in the road to where God wants us to be. We are at this very moment prayerfully considering next steps and are in no way giving up what we know God has called us to do.

Please be praying for us as we move to more stable housing. Also, please be praying as we plan on meeting with a missions sending agency this month.

Love,

Emma and Gideon
